Rose Croptop: Pandanus Palm String (Berang)
Fabric story: "Berang" Pandanus Palm String
Inland Pandanus Palm are found on country near our hot thermal pools. This plant fibre is used for weaving to make Dillybags. Mainly designed and used by our women to gather and transport food, freshwater mussels and babies. In addition they can be made out of cabbage palm or black palm leaves.
All pieces are crafted and developed locally in Cairns by Cindy Hudson head seamstress (Jedess’ Mother). This allows Cindy and Jedess to ensure that each piece has high-quality workmanship.
Fabric selection – Tencel Linen. Sourced from an Australian fabric printer and supplier.
